MVA Form VR-188 Application for the Use of Vintage Registration

The Application for the Use of Vintage Registration form is used by the owner of a registered historic vehicle and/or Street Rod, requesting display of an authentic Maryland license plate issued in the same year as the historic vehicle’s model year.

The vehicles qualified to display “Vintage” registration plates,

1. Class L (Historic) – Class N (Street Rod).
2. The Vintage tags must be issued in the same year as the model year of the motor vehicle.
3. Current Historic and Street Rod tags must remain in the vehicle when displaying Vintage tags.
4. Vintage tags must be for a year not less than 25 years prior to January 1st of each calendar year.
5. Vintage tags are not transferrable to another person.
6. The Vintage tags must be verified and authorized at a full service MVA office.
