Street Rod Tags

Street Rod tags may be issued to a vehicle that is 25-calendar years old and older.  Maryland Safety Inspection Certificate is not required to register a historic vehicle.

Street Rod Tags Must

1. be 25 model years old or older; and
2. have been substantially altered from the manufacturer’s original design.

Street Rod Vehicles May Not

1. be used for general daily transportation, or
2. primarily for the transportation of passengers or property on highways.

Street Rod Vehicles May Only

1. be used in exhibitions,
2. club activities,
3. parades,
4. tours,
5. occasional transportation and similar uses.

Street Rod Vehicles May

1. display personalized [vanity] tags
2. display vintage tags; same year tag as the vehicle
3. One-time fee
4. 25-years old and older
5. Street Rod tag issued; kept in vehicle
6. Renewal fees still paid
